Snackin’ Around The (Walt Disney) World - Michaela Mertz
With over 200 dining locations across Walt Disney World, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Even as someone who visits the Florida travel destination multiple times a year, I still get frazzled by all the incredible options. With so much to eat and drink, there are a few must-eats if you’re new to Disney World. Let’s talk about the best and most unique snacks for both the picky eaters in our lives and the more adventurous types.
Magic Kingdom
Casey’s Corner: Located on Main Street, USA this classically nostalgic baseball themed hot dog stand has some crazy options, but also some really basic ones. Whether it’s your first time visiting or your tenth, Casey’s is a must. The chili-cheese hot dog here isn’t for everyone, but it’s worth trying at least once. Guests can mobile order here for quick convenience.
The Launching Pad: Who can deny the sweet allure of a cream cheese stuffed pretzel? I find myself craving these even when I’m away from Disney. Sure, it doesn’t sound all that unique, but there’s just something about eating this simple snack as I peacefully watch the People Mover drive by. Also at the Launching Pad guests can find more specialty hot dogs such as the Cuban Hot Dog and Queso Fundido Hot Dog.
Aloha Isle: DOLE Whip. Need I say more?
Cheshire Café: Fans of Alice in Wonderland are bound to love the snacks served up by our favorite mischievous feline. The pepper jack pretzel and Cheshire Cat Tail pastry are delicious, but the real winner here is the Merry Unbirthday Cake. This cupcake is filled with sprinkles and topped with tea infused buttercream icing - perfect for celebrating unbirthdays!
Main Street Confectionary: If you love a savory-sweet combo, head over to the confectionary to create your own popcorn mix. Guests choose their preferred popcorn flavor, chocolate drizzle, and candy toppings. Choices are subject to change, but regardless this is a great snack that you can customize!
Epcot
Festival Booths: Throughout the year guests can enjoy various festival booths, with snack and drink options not typically available at other times of the year. Epcot is home to the Flower and Garden Festival, the Festival of the Arts, the Food and Wine festival, and the Festival of the Holidays. Make sure to check which festival is going on at the time of your visit, but note that there isn’t always a festival going on. The great thing about festival booths is that there are a ton to choose from and they all offer a wide variety of options from all over the world.
Crêpes À Emporter by La Crêperie de Paris: Located at the back of the France Pavilion, guests can walk up to this highly sought after snack stand. There are a variety of savory and sweet crêpes, along with ice cream options.
Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe: Norwegian baked goods can be found here, along with Kristoff Kaffee (frozen coffee with chocolate sauce) - a fantastic option on those hot Florida days. And the School Bread and Eplekake are great options post Frozen Ever After.
Katsura Grill: Located in the Japan Pavilion, this location is home to various sushi, noodle, and teriyaki dishes. The portion sizes here are perfect for snacking and sharing, allowing you to continue trying more international dishes as you explore World Showcase.
Hollywood Studios
Ronto Roasters: Ronto Wraps are the best thing to ever happen to Hollywood Studios. This dish is pork based, but there is a zucchini option available. Even if you’re not a Star Wars fan, a Ronto Wrap should definitely be on your list of foods to try on your next vacation.
Kat Saka’s Kettle: Outpost Popcorn Mix is one of the craziest snacks I have ever consumed. This particular popcorn is not only colorful, but also sweet and spicy. The first bite never ceases to make me smile.
Milk Stand: Blue milk isn’t just for those living on the planet of Tatooine. I know it sounds unsettling, but it’s not really milk. This beverage is a fruity combination of coconut and rice milk and served ice cold.
Woody’s Lunch Box: You can’t go wrong with a raspberry lunch box tart first thing in the morning or “totchos” later on in the day. It’s not unusual for me to make multiple stops here throughout my vacation. Sitting on a giant wheel of Babybel Cheese while I snack is an event in and of itself.
Animal Kingdom
Satu’li Canteen: Cheeseburger Steamed Pods - Bao Buns, or simply Burger Pods, are the heart of Pandora. I can’t not get a burger pod when I visit Animal Kingdom, it’s simply impossible. This meal is available both as an entrée and as a kid’s meal, meaning you can enjoy it any way you want.
Yak & Yeti: While there are plenty of Asian inspired foods available here, I cannot recommend the firecracker shrimp and pork egg rolls enough. This quick service stand will have you snacking and moving on to your next adventure in no time.
Harambe Market: Whether you’re getting the beef and lamb kofta pita or chicken rice bowl, there are no wrong choices to be made at Harambe Market. This quick service location offers African style cuisine to meet any traveler’s needs.
Disney Springs
Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza: I have never had better pizza on WDW property than at Blaze. There are so many options and combinations to build your own pizza, that there’s no way you’ll leave disappointed. I hadn’t expected much going into Blaze, but I left feeling not only satisfied, but elated to have found a new go-to dining location.
Disney Food Trucks: The food trucks, like any you’d find in an American city, offer simple choices at reasonable prices. Since Disney Springs is known for its many shops, you can grab and go at your choice of food truck and continue exploring!
Coca-Cola Store Rooftop Beverage Bar: This unique location is home to eight different mocktails of various fun flavors. Guests can also purchase the Around The World Tray, consisting of fourteen different soda flavors from around the world. Beware the Beverly.
Across the Parks
Popcorn: This simple snack can be found across all four parks and in Disney Springs. It’s simple and enjoyable and comes with discounted refills when using a reusable popcorn bucket.
Churros: There’s just something about a Disney churro that’s better than all other churros. This treat is sure to please those picky eaters.
Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company: Various locations can be found across WDW property with each location offering different seasonal or park specific beverages. I always go for the limited option - I can get a matcha latte anywhere. You can also score a 20% discount at Joffrey’s when using your Magical Extras card (valid only during your stay at a WDW Resort Hotel).
While there are plenty more amazing dining opportunities available at Walt Disney World, these are just some of my favorites. For first time guests, I hope you love what you find. For those who return to the magic often, maybe I’ve introduced you to something new. Regardless, I hope you find your snacking experience to be a fulfilling one!
